Rio Grande Gorge Bridge
What an exciting view! Walk across the bridge if you dare... 650 feet above the Rio Grande winding through the rough rock gorge on each side. The bridge was built in the cantilever truss style and is the second highest bridge of its construction in the country.
Below, kayakers and river rafts pass, coming out of the famous 'Taos Box', a class IV rapids; above, hot air balloons soar. Feel the expanse of the wild west in front of you, and the mighty Rio Grande beneath your feet.
From Taos, travel north on Hwy 68 and turn left on Hwy 64. The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is 7 miles west of this intersection. Continue west past the bridge and the Earthship community sprawls seamlessly across the mesa.
